Banana Republic and Zankov’s New Capsule Brings Color and Cashmere to Fall

Brushed cashmere, plaid and patchwork stripes fill the limited-edition collection, with pieces from $90 to $600.

Cozy is often the name of the game when it comes to rising to the top of the pile for clothing items picked on repeat during the fall.

This season, Banana Republic has teamed up with New York label Zankov in pursuit of just that.

The pair is offering a limited-edition, 27-piece collection that combines color, texture and patterns to create an overall feeling of joyful warmth. The capsule contains pieces meant to remain in one’s closet for years to come and is intended to reflect the duo’s “uncompromising approach to craft and detail.”

Characterized by brushed-cashmere, leather, wool and plaid, the pieces can be mixed and matched, including pieces of traditional womenswear and menswear that can be styled together.

“This collaboration with Banana Republic is really an exploration of the visual language I’ve developed through my work, brought together with the brand’s rich sense of craft and heritage,” said Henry Zankov, founder of Zankov.

He continued: “The pieces were created with a spirit of playfulness, but with an enduring, timeless quality. I wanted each garment to feel beautiful in the hand—to have that tactile, almost instinctive appeal—and to feel like something you could live with, love, and eventually pass down as an heirloom.”

While designing, Zankov dove into Banana Republic’s archives, which resulted in the reinterpretation of some archival pieces incorporating his own style—think patchwork and colorful stripes.

“From the beginning, we saw an opportunity to reinterpret Banana Republic’s codes through ZANKOV’s approach to color and texture. We brought together two distinct points of view, grounded in heritage, craftsmanship and creativity,” said Meena Anvary, chief marketing officer of Banana Republic. “The collection represents our shared appreciation of quality made pieces, with a bit of the unexpected, designed to be lived in and loved for years to come.”

Pieces range in cost from $90 to $600.
